I agree with you when i read this i thought of the same thing abut only complementing the bird. I also belive that the bird is really shy just as you said.

The fist words in the first two sentence are the same they both start with “And” then the first word in the last two sentence start with “that”.This makes the rhythm pop out more to me.

i liked how the poet wrote about the land tin the first sentence and then compared it to a sea because its a good rhyme and its comparing two opposite things.
