Master Soph Boysen Master Soph Boysen (Oct 28 2019 1:51AM) : I agree more

I think Cuomo meant that the way people present themselves is lavish and extravagant. People make themselves better than they actually are. It makes the speaker more beautiful to bring about emotion. The second part of the quote means that once they have achieved the position they wanted, they let their true selves show. I agree with this quote. It relates to relationships because when you’re trying to attract someone, you act differently in a way that would make you seem more desirable.

Beautifully said. I don’t think he meant it as a negative. I think he was just pointing out that people make promises, but those promises are hard to keep when faced with reality.

People get together because they see the good in others, but as time pass the bad become obvious so people will start to consider leaving. The reason is just as what Cuomo said, “you campaign in poetry, but you govern in prose.” I think in daily relationships prose should be used, however poetry should be used like a decoration in life.

You campaign in peotry means people use poetry in order to trick people by letting them feel as if everything will be in an ideal condition. And you govern in prose means that once a person gained the power, they will show the truth, which is more of a harsh condition. I agree because many politics use flowery words in order to get the position they want. However, once the are in the position, they will never fulfill what they promised but would give excuses for their unjust actions.

max ong max ong (Oct 28 2019 2:00AM) : I agree more

I agree with Mario Cuomo, That he said people often starts relationship with strong passion and good patient. The second part that I think he want to represent is when people reach the position that they want they will show how they are usually. Like in a relationship, when boy and girl they didn’t lived together, so every time they went out to see each other, they will dress up themselves well, but since when they live together, they won’t really care about it.

Dr. James Kim Dr. James Kim (Oct 28 2019 2:20AM) : I agree with Cuomo that people often start a relationship with strong passion and affection, but when the relationship last long, the passion and affection weakens. more

The quote “You campaign in poetry, but you govern in prose” by Cuomo expresses the reality of romance relationships. Most relationships begin with fulfilling promises that are full with passion; however, they are never kept just like a prose in poetry.

Ms. Epifania Taylor Ms. Epifania Taylor (Oct 28 2019 2:37AM) : Change isn't always bad. more

I think as things progress, they always change. Relationships don’t have to weaken. That change could be for the better. To strengthen iron, people heat it. Once it has cooled and gone through that tedious process, the final product is better off.

Cumo means that before election, you boast your positives, but after election, you show your true characters. It is also true for relationship and love. When you are dating with someone, you pretend to be the greatest person in the world. However, after several years, you get used to them and begin to show your everything.

Dr Jo Shua Dr Jo Shua (Oct 28 2019 1:13PM) : I agree more

I think since the campaign is the language focused on beauty of words to bring about emotion and prose written language in form of ordinary speech, the governor probably meant that people like governor would campaign themselves with the languages like poetry; whereas, the people like governors would have to win the debates and control people through inspirational speech in the same time. In the relationship, on my opinion, we usually say bunch of good things about others to get closer; however, when we get closer enough, we would reveal our true thought – or original thought – about them.

Olivia Larson Olivia Larson (Oct 28 2019 11:34PM) : I agree that campaigning is poetry and governing is prose. more

I believe he meant that when you are putting yourself on display you attempt to make yourself look better than how you are in reality. Once you are secure in your position, you show the true you. I agree with Cuomo because I can see how this can be applied to real life situations such as relationships and politics. This can be relevant to relationships because while you are romancing your crush you may want to appear perfect. However, once you are dating the true quirks and sides of you come out.

Esther Lee Esther Lee (Nov 04 2019 9:56PM) : I agree with Cuomo's statement. more

I think he is trying to say that politicians have to make people support themselves using beautiful and impressive promises and sometimes exaggerations if necessary to survive and maintain his position. After he gains popularity from people, he should try his best to be specific and responsible for what he promised in the past. If you campaign in prose and govern in poetry, you will end up being forgotten from society because people want a moderate but strong leader. It also relates to our personal relationships; you try to attract someone you like at the beginning, but you soon become satisfied with a current state of relationship and eventually turn to a person who is indifferent to take care of that relationship.
