Mindfulness is something as simple as taking five minutes out of your day to be aware of your mind, yourself, and yourself in your surroundings. However it often times is the hardest thing to do on a consistent basis. For me it is not something that I believe in too much. Growing up, my family had a mentality of just doing your work. Completing a task or doing your job was and is not something that gets praise, an example would be my chores. So the thought of taking time out of the day to reflect and be aware is nonsense to me, especially when I have things that have to be done. However, this past spring when I had surgery, I didn’t have to worry about football. I was a regular student, and had the time to reflect and be aware in order to keep myself sane while I was out of football.
