The negative core beliefs and positive core beliefs was something that i agreed with professor Davis in how we need to rely and focus on our positive over out negatives. For instance, we would never be as harsh to someone the way we are to ourselves when we make a mistake or do something bad. However the analogy that he used in class was a hot air balloon. He compared the positive core beliefs to the hot air that takes the balloon up high into the air. Where as the sandbags are the weights that hold the balloon to the ground, never letting it reach its potential. The way I understood his lecture was that we needed zero sandbags and all hot air. But i believe that some sandbags or negative core beliefs will keep us grounded, or humble in other words. Because if we have zero sandbags then we risk flying to high or in other words think too highly of ourselves or never thinking we were in the wrong. Its like with anything in this world, too much of something is just as bad as too little. We need to find the balance of negative core beliefs to positive. I do not believe it is a one to one ratio, but it does need to be at least one negative to two positive.
