Ms. Devon Harrison Ms. Devon Harrison (Sep 26 2017 12:06PM) : James: These are issues that I have faced my entire life and I will stand here like a statue, stronger than Robert E. Lee, and demand justice for my people. more

I imagine that James is feeling empowered by the company of individuals supporting #BlackLivesMatter. However, I assume that he is deeply wounded as were his ancestors in the same fight. This tireless fight that has conjured up wisdom and patience. I think James knows that he is strong, his ideas are valid, and that no matter what he and his people will prevail.

Colt Hearld Colt Hearld (Oct 02 2017 11:11PM) : "I don't really know what's going on but there are so many people everywhere. Mom and Dad say some day I'll understand and that it's important to be here. They look worried. I'll cheer like all the other people now. Dad's smiling, I think it worked."

Jennifer Tyler Jennifer Tyler (Sep 30 2017 2:31PM) : Heather: I like people. I want to help as many as I can. I can't believe that haters are coming to my town! There is going to be a rally and a group of counter protesters, I'm afraid of getting hurt but I am not going to let my fear stop me.

Colt Hearld Colt Hearld (Oct 02 2017 11:13PM) : "I'm so scared to go to the counter-protest tomorrow. Large groups like this always seem to wind up in someone getting hurt. I know I will probably end up going but getting shot terrifies me. Hopefully there's some safety in numbers."

Ms. Devon Harrison Ms. Devon Harrison (Sep 26 2017 12:13PM) : Tim is wondering: How could people do this to one another? Do they understand the irreversible life consequences of harming someone in this way is? Do they know how it feels? How did we get here? Is it not 2017? Have we not moved past such hate? more

I imagine that Tim is frantic, in the middle of trying to protect these people, aid in saving this man’s life, and wondering how this could have happened in his city? He is probably on high alert, looking around to make sure the scene is safe. What could happen next? Could it possibly get worse? What this was my family member? How can I, as a white cisgendered American, help these people fighting for their rights?

Ms. Devon Harrison Ms. Devon Harrison (Sep 26 2017 11:56AM) : Jack is probably irate. He may feel entitled to his country and feel that shouting homophobic, antisemitic, and racial slurs is right. He could be afraid for the future and the way things are changing. Who is he to blame but those around him? [Edited] more

Thinking as if I were Jack, I would be feeling the rush of likeminded people in a world that generally does not agree with him. All of the Trump propaganda and misinformation on the good of white nationalism is rising to the surface. It looks like this is the first time he’s had the ability to release his aggression, thoughts, and fears onto others. It’s extremely frightening yet liberating for him.

Jennifer Tyler Jennifer Tyler (Sep 30 2017 2:42PM) : John: I will protect these people because it's my job. They have a wrong way of thinking about things. They hate me for my skin color. But despite that I will protect them. No one here is better than anyone else. Their hate makes me sad.
