Jack D: Janie is having similar thoughts about Joe as she did with Logan and she is being treated the same by both of them. This similarity is forcing Janie to keep moving on and I think that she will leave Joe as well.

Abigail F: this is kind of off topic but I love the character's personal idiosyncracies and sayings. Tea Cake uses the phrase "shot with tacks" a couple of times throughout the novel and I just think it makes his dialogue so distinctive (among other things),

Abigail F: i think the staging of this is also interesting. A furious dog riding a cow is an evocative image to be sure. The possesive nature of the dog, the almost victimhood of the cow in everything, it almost reminds me of Janie's past marriages. Her husbands
