It's a common idea that athletes need to consume meat in order to gain protein and that is not the case at all. There are many athletes that are vegan and they prove that animals prodcts are not needed in order to be fit.

When I first went vegan, my mother was worried that I would not get enough protein as well as my doctor. I did not eat alot of foods that provided protein up to that point. However, I learned to eat tofu, quinoa, beans, nuts and seeds in order to gain sufficient amount of protein.

Veganism has been scientifically proven to improve health, still, many peeople are put off by the first time they began eating vegan. For some people, once you eleminate consuming animal products, the body can go through a sort of detox and experiece headaches or fatigue. The reason being because you are used to eating animal products and the sudden stop of eating them can cause the body to experience shock. That was not the case for me, I eliminated dairy, eggs and honey overnight and I did not experince problems. I did have trouble eliminating meat at first, though, when I began to see videos and read articles of the abuse of farm animals, I lost the interest to eat meat.

The side effects that come with eating a vegan diet are incredible. I actually went from being overweight to being at a healthy weight by eliminating animal products. Also, my cystic acne cleared up and my energy levels increased.

Many people do not value the many differences that adopting a vegan lifestyle could make to animals and the environment. Still, as long as one is eating vegan at least the community is growing and less people are contributing to animal slaughter. Veganism has many health benefits and there is no wonder that scientists and doctors have discovered ways to treat diseases with a vegan diet.

My father has Type II Diabetes and whenever my father does not consume animal products, he feels much more energetic and alive. My father loves drinking vegetable/fruit smoothies and homemade vegetable/pasta soups which contributes to his health. My father sees a great difference when he eats vegan versus when he consumes animal products.

Everything the standard American person eats, a vegan can eat to. There are multiple vegan subtitutes that recreate the look and taste of steaks such as seitan. There are many companies that make vegan "chicken" nuggets and even vegan ground "beef". Vegan cheeses are also available as well as numerous non-dairy ice creams. Eggs can even be replaced with tofu to make scrambled "eggs". Additionally, you can other foods you can use instead of eggs for baking such as bananas and applesauce.

Three Reasons: Animals, Environment and Health

Being vegan may be seen as only not eating animal products. However, the term "vegan" applies to much more. A vegan lifestyle means not exploiting animals in any way, and that goes for wearing them too. Many people are interested in the health benefits. Though, the ethics and enviromentalism comes soon after.

Americans suffer greatly from diseases due to animal consumption and many are oblivious to their eating habits. Surely, not everyone who eats animal products are unhealthy. But then again that doesn't mean that those people should continue to eat them, for the diet is killing the planet ultimately.

Small Communty of Vegans

The fact that veganism is still such a small communIty is frustrating because as there are more people consuming animal products, more animals are dying, the environment is disintergrating and the health of those people are not as its best than it would on a vegan diet.

I have been looked upon as weird for not eating any animal products. People have questioned me why I gave up eating animals products if they are "so good". I tell them it's because I don't want to continue to pay for animals to die in order to pleasure my taste buds for ten minutes.
