Aren't there things we want to reward that don't have digital evidence?

I'm thinking the simplest way to address this problem is to create a BADGE EVIDENCE google doc and use that for all web links. For example, if there's a perfect attendance badge, students could just write in the document "Check your attendance roster" for me, the teacher. I'm am still befuddled by the issue of students awarding each other badges.

Deported before reaching the Rio Grande

It is very difficult for migrants to make it across Mexico, and they are usually deported multiple times. The bus that takes them back to the border is called the "bus of tears." Obama has requested for money from Congress, and a portion of it will be used to increase deportations before migrants even reach the border.

This paragraph does a good job of explaining how Honduras came to be one of the world's most dangerous countries.

Alfonso Aguilar, former chief of the U.S. Office of Citizenship in the George W. Bush administration, is the executive director of the American Principles Project's Latino Partnership. He proposes: "To stem the tide of people – adults and children – trying to illegally enter the U.S., we must create a guest worker program that is easy for employers to use and fully responds to the demands of our labor market. This will facilitate a circular flow, allowing migrants to come to work, return to their home country to be with their families and then re-enter legally when it's time to begin working again."

Connection to teaching

As immigration or asylum agents screen child migrants, they have to ask a series of questions to determine if the kids are fleeing poverty or violence. One question they might ask is how many people the child has known who has died. Of these, how many were murdered? Is it appropriate for teachers to ask these questions? In what forum?

The article doesn't explain who is taking care of Cristian, but it is safe to assume a surrogate caretaker - this is common in that parents usually immigrate before their children.
