So the author obviously had to describe this area. But, the fact that it is not on the map, separated from other parts of town, and little known, shows that there is something suspicious about Henriettas upbringing. I believe the motivation behind this was the fact that Henrietta's HeLa cells were taken from her without consent. Since this was such a small unknown town, there were less liabilities for the doctors when it came to stealing her cells for different scientific studies. So in my opinion, they did not have the right to use it in their research and to send it to other doctors and scientists. They did, though, have the right to obtain the sample if it was to help Henrietta. Using it in their own research was not necessary towards helping Henrietta's case which makes it unjust to use her cells in further studies.
