Throughout the work that I did in the column one centers, I found that I could understand better and share more explicitly when I was able to make connections to things I already knew whether from education courses or classroom experiences.

For this project, we were asked to create a scratch program using only "10 Blocks".

The blocks referred to what I would call actions. I felt like it was a good set of restrictions to keep students from becoming overwhelmed with all possible blocks. At the same time it was a nice challenge to create a whole program using only the 10 blocks.

I definitely agree with this idea Branden. Children are more technologically savvy these days and I can't help but feel like teachers have to try to be up-to-date technology-wise to stay in the loop and to make connections with their students.

One example of a multimodal method that can be used in the classroom is by using Scratch. Here is an example of a scratch program that I was able to create.

Multimodal methods can allow students different ways to express their understanding of the learning material in ways that better support their learning style.

I feel like when I need to know how to do something physically, I would look for a how-to video on youtube. But if I wanted to know more information on something I would look for an article on the topic instead of watching someone explain it in a video.

If there was one thing that I learned in college, it's that making connections are key! I retained way more information from my education classes because I was in classrooms with students applying and connecting what I learned in class.

I 100% agree with your comment! People often like to lean on intelligence as reasoning but if people put a bit more effort into being mindful and respectful, there would be a huge shift in how people interact.

This is definitely something that can be implemented in a classroom to promote metacognition. However, it is just as important to encourage the students to continue and go forward with patience. As mentioned earlier, students may become discouraged.

I was recently exposed to the idea of good listening at last week's Danielson seminar. It definitely takes more than just responding to listen. You have to stop, think and understand.

After the pandemic hit, I found it extremely helpful to take an extra few seconds to think about the "why" behind everything in my head. Why do I feel this way? Why did I think that way? Initially, it was very hard, but it gets easier over time.

I generally try to strive to be precise when choosing words while speaking because I feel like word choice is super important. This sentence speaks to that thought process.

This thought process helped while going through the centers of column one because it allowed me to get help and communicate to clarify the confusions I had.
