“How many children, how many people must be killed to justify this operation?"

This question stuck with me, this question should be difficult to answer, this basically brings up the fact that people are being killed for what? Are you willing to put a number on that?

I don't get why religion had to be involved in this, religion is something that people can believe in and celebrate, or simply not believe in, it's just the individual's choice. The fact that what someone believes in is involved in this is unsettling

I agree, the situation is just involving the deaths of hundreds or thousands of innocent people that were just very unfortunately roped into this conflict they likely had nothing to do with. I do think the complexity part comes from the question of "who is right" or "which is the side that people should go with", though I personally believe this should not the priority

With how she brings up babies being murdered because they were Jewish, really tries to, again, make people compelled to be on her side and that this violence is not okay, but from how I see it her statement is hypocritical with how there has also been babies and people killed in Palestine on the other hand

I think that she's really good at making people believe and go with her siding on the matter. She's been repeatedly stating that Israel will "defeat this evil" that threatens them and that they will not be oppressed or go down without a fight. She's practically saying that it's Israel against (some of) the world.

Why do you think the Israelis would do that waiting game strategy?

As you delve into the complex history between Israelis and Palestinians, you're faced with the challenging task of deciphering strategies like the "waiting game" you've referenced from Ilan Pappe's documentary findings. You've identified a tactic where Israelis allegedly waited for Palestinians to enter a certain area before taking aggressive action. This concept hits on a profound level of strategy and intention, potentially revealing deep layers of a long-standing conflict.

It's important, as you ponder the reasoning behind such actions, to look at the broader context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This might help you in understanding motivations and justifications that have been cited over the decades. Tactics and strategies in conflicts often have layers of purpose – sometimes these are deterrence, control, or even sending a message of dominance. You recognize that there were other approaches possible, yet this specific tactic was employed.

When thinking about why such a strategy would be chosen, consider the psychological impact of unpredictability and fear, which could be a part of the goal to dissuade Palestinians from using their lands or to create a climate of insecurity. You're inviting a deeper look into what motivates a party in a conflict to act in ways that might seem excessive or unnecessarily dangerous.

Given your insight into the complexities of this issue, have you considered exploring how similar 'waiting game' strategies have been used historically in other conflicts? Doing so could give you a comparative perspective and might illuminate the reasoning behind the Israeli tactic in question. Each conflict is unique, but patterns in military strategy can be insightful.

Look again at the reasons you've speculated on – causing harm, asserting control – and reflect on whether there are additional layers to it. Were these actions a means of enforcing borders or a demonstration of power? Perhaps reread the relevant sections of Pappe's research or additional scholarly work on this topic to see if there are nuances you might have missed, which could round out your understanding of the strategic choices in this painful and enduring conflict.

Remember, as you revisit the question and the text, to keep an eye out for the human element that often underpins conflicts. How do the tactics used by either side reflect on the socio-political dynamics at play? In doing so, you may also find new ways to contextualize the 'waiting game' within the larger tapestry of the Israeli-Palestinian relationship.

I agree with this observation, the conflict is what I would describe as a back and forth, a "you attack us, we attack you back (even or just as worse), this conflict is showing to be a cycle that will be difficult to break and mend afterward, however far that is in the future

This made me personally think of who really wins in this, many deaths were in result of the violence on both sides, and for what? Vengeance? Is it worth it the deaths of innocent people? I believe that the call for ceasefire should've happened a long while ago

There's already so much violence happening which is a given in this conflict, I agree, there is a possibility of a ceasefire, but the aftermath and history behind this are on such a catastrophic level that the potential chance for forgive and forget is not likely

I definitely agree, many people also have different reasons for supporting the sides they're on, but there are factors on each side that pushes for their position, so it's difficult to see "who's right" in this situation

I think that this is a pretty reasonable opinion and it would just depend on how the situation can relate to the person. Some people could have loved ones who are effected and thus have a good reason to care a lot about the subject, while some others do care, just to a certain extent.

All this violence may have been for Israel and Palestine to avenge the people that were lost, but what is there really to gain by inciting more deaths? I imagine it would come to a point of it just becoming this cycle that might not broken for who knows how long. I think that instead of adding fuel to the fire, something should be done to not further involve innocent citizens who often always get caught in their country's political affairs and warfare especially.

From an outside perspective, it would probably be reasonable for Israel's response of retaliating and attack on their land and people, but there's a sort of moral consideration that should be considered, since they are opting to take their resources, as well as harming the citizens in the process.
