Enjoy life even if the world is cruel and unkind. Because life is the reason why things are so precious and fragile. While death is peaceful and ever lasting. I learned this from a movie, Book of Life, as well as from experience.
Firstly, from the day of the dead, where the deceased family comes to visit the living for one day. This is what the movie is based on, and it is truly magnetic to watch. Life is so easy to lose, yet death means forever where nothing can hurt you. Secondly, my personal experience is somewhat similar where I watch flowers that grew and wilted outside my home. They were truly beautiful, and I felt sad for a moment that they wilted. However, they were still beautiful, and I was able to make bookmarks out of them. To always keep with me to remind me that even life and death are precious.
Regarding, ¨Still I Rise¨, it is painful to read how women were overlooked and treated like they were less than men. However, they gain skills and experiences men are unable to have. They fought twice as hard as man for their freedom and equality. And it was beautiful what woman have done together to achieve their dreams.
As for Transcendentalism, it is a connection to the earth where everything must end and begin. Firstly, by loving life no matter how rich or poor you may be. While understandingthath that things are at odds, somehow find a way to balance like yin and yang. Or the sun and moon. We don´t always have to agree or disagree. We can love the earth for everything it has given us, good or bad.

I believe what the narrator is trying to say is that everything will hurt. Whether we like it or not, some experience worse than others. That does not mean our pain is worthless. It may be hard to accept; however, we can learn from it. Like I had to, whenever things got bad. It took weeks until I was okay with feeling pain.
I remember a song that was similar to this statement. It was Hero by Regina Spektor, which made me feel okay to be not okay. Because of the lyrics and her soft voice, which comfort me.
People should not be grateful for their painful experiences, yet understand they made them who they are. This is especially true in ¨Still I Rise¨, where the narrator fights against people who wronged her. In Transcendentalism, it draws parallels to how life must end while death begins.

Toni, I agree with you and your explanation. Especially the part where people should take their time and be grateful. However, the last sentence isn´t so simple. People would rather not wake up or be unable to get out of bed. Two things can be right.
