Unfortunately politicians tend to make statements, not to follow through with them, but to gain the favor of the people. It is simple to say that one is going to turn the nation around by taking this or that measure, but where is the sincerity behind it all? There is none. Congressmen are much too concerned with themselves and their chances of reelection. They are supposed to be responsible for legislation, legislation that will benefit the people of the nation. The issue is that rather than their mind being focused on creating laws to help the country prosper, the people currently holding office are more interested in figuring out ways to help them win the next election. Desperate to stay in power, these congressmen will speak whatever words that the people want to hear. By creating a likable and responsible image of themselves, congressional candidates are able to manipulate the people into believing that they are the best choice for office.
