I am looking also at the ways that the term "media" is used across different statements like this - such as NCTE's literacy in a digital age definition: https://ncte.org/statement/nctes-definition-literacy-digital-age/ Here they mention media in the context of use/consumption (ie. Do learners apply ethical practices when using media?) ... Then we see it in "multimedia" which is more about creating ... and then in the professionals in the mix (ie. I don't think it necessarily always needs to be original. I've been thinking recently even about the pedagogically sounds ways that copying is part of learning ... this can be very true when learning in performance arts for example, yoga, etc. You start by mirroring the teacher and go from there.
