Can you help me break this down?

Of course, let's begin by chunking the first part of the text as we would in our Reading Apprenticeship classrooms. We'll use a Think Aloud strategy to demonstrate how we can make sense of the text. Here's how we might approach it:

"AI joins the litany of increasing pressures on teachers to improve teaching methodologies..."

Now, let's break that down and think aloud. The word "AI" stands for artificial intelligence, so it's being personified here as if it can join a group. "Litany" usually refers to a long, repetitive list, indicating there are many pressures. Those pressures are described as "increasing," which tells us the situation is becoming more intense over time. The phrase "on teachers" shows that this burden is placed on educators. "To improve teaching methodologies" implies that there is a need for better ways of teaching.

At this point, I'd invite us to reflect: What kinds of pressures could AI add to teaching? How might the desire to improve teaching be related to the introduction of AI?

Now it's our turn. Let's try chunking the next section of the text on our own, thinking about each part as we go along. As we practice this strategy, we connect our thoughts, clarify pronoun references, and use close reading to deepen our understanding. And remember, these strategies are tools we have in our toolbox to help us untangle complex sentences and comprehend the text better.

I'm excited to hear our thoughts and interpretations. What does the next chunk of the text reveal to us? Let's share our Think Alouds with each other as we navigate the text, enhancing our comprehension piece by piece. And when we're done, let's circle back to re-read this paragraph, inviting ourselves to dive even deeper with our newfound insights. Happy chunking!

How might you interpret this conflict?

This is an extended critique of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with an in-depth analysis of the role and implications of Hamas's actions and the overall lack of resolution and peace. It highlights the deep entrenchment and complexities that the conflict press upon not just the involved parties, but the bystanders and international community as well.

To provide some context, the National Park Service (NPS) has created several sites dedicated to promoting peace, remembrance, and education about complex historical events. The Pearl Harbor National Memorial in Hawaii, for example, commemorates the events of December 7, 1941, which led the United States into World War II.

Just as the memorial brings to light the harsh realities of war and provides a place to reflect on its impacts, having a place or program to educate and facilitate discussions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could be beneficial for understanding and perhaps fostering peace.

While it is not within the NPS's jurisdiction to create sites or programs abroad, it's worth noting that the ethos of remembrance, education, and fostering national dialogue about complex historical events aligns with the service's mission. Furthermore, technologies such as virtual reality or online platforms could offer new avenues to foster understanding and dialogue around such international conflicts, promoting peace-building efforts. This method would mirror the NPS's method of educating and remembering history.

The dialogue and educational programs could offer perspectives from officials, scholars, and people directly affected by the conflict, fostering understanding and empathy among participants. They could address the root causes of the conflict, the current situation, and potential resolutions in the future. This approach could help foster a more robust, well-rounded understanding of the conflict among students and the general public. Just like how the NPS promotes understanding and protection of American history and natural resources, initiating a deeper understanding of this conflict could potentially lay the groundwork for peace.

From this text, we can see that media literacy skills are essential for individuals to be responsible useres and creators of media in our society. It involves many different forms of literacies which should be integrated and cross-curricular. It requires learning habits of inquiry and expression, and developing critical thinking skills. In addition, it promotes self-reflection, examining biases and purpose when engaging with media, and ethical responsibilities when creating and sharing media. Let's keep reading and thinking to see if there are any more important lessons to be learned.

The insights shared here will help communities, schools, out-of-school programs for youth, and other stakeholders in media literacy education commit to a set of core principles and best practices. Educators and youth-serving professionals can use these documents to engage in deeper conversations, to develop, structure, and improve their media literacy work. We hope these documents help media literacy education practitioners think about media literacy’s value, understand their own practice, gain the knowledge they need to design meaningful learning experiences, and develop a culture of media literacy in their respective organizations.

Here they mention media in the context of use/consumption (ie. Do learners apply ethical practices when using media?) ... Then we see it in "multimedia" which is more about creating ... and then in the professionals in the mix (ie. Do learners have opportunities to engage with and learn from school media and library professionals)

From one side of Buffalo to the other
You moved, driving a neighbor to Tops who needed a ride as a young white man filled with pain
manifesting as hate and rage
walked in

I don’t know what happened
I haven’t read the details about the gun, haven’t bothered to understand stories of his pain and rage as I am now in pain and rage
I’m sure there is a schematic of the shootings if I wanted to know
where your body is mapped out

What I see here are the members of your congregation, your community
Holding you between them, in a box
Remembering the songs you sung together

Your community is a community of black bodies, black families, a black church; a community of care.
What about this makes a young while man so enraged.
Where does the pain lie?

I don't think it necessarily always needs to be original. I've been thinking recently even about the pedagogically sounds ways that copying is part of learning ... this can be very true when learning in performance arts for example, yoga, etc. You start by mirroring the teacher and go from there.
