I like what you've done with your paper since draft #1! I hope my comments are helpful-- if you want follow-up on any of them, please email me! You're going in a great direction. I also wanted to commend your spunk for taking this class as a first year-- this is A LOT of work and a lot of engagement with concepts and ideas which may be difficult to grasp having only been inaugurated into the community a few weeks ago. Well done!

I like your thinking here-- you've clearly thought about the issue and I actually learned a lot reading this portion of your essay.

more on critiques

Here it might be more helpful to focus your critiques less on the structure of the class and more on ethics, content, or goals

I'm so glad you put this in. You came a long way from not caring to being in a class solely about this event. what a marvelous journey!

less blunt?

I think you may be responding to my suggestion to add in critiques of the class here... I think you're being a bit blunt, though! What's maybe difficult here is that you haven't yet experienced a lot of college classes (obviously) so I can imagine it would be difficult to compare and criticize this one. I was thinking that there might be ethical concerns with the nature of the class or critiques of oral history in general (Goodson offers a few)! I think your mention of the length of class as a legitimate critique is a bit juvenile-- there's lots of seminars around these parts! I hope this helps. And you may not have been responding to my previous comment, but, either way, I don't think this section is helping your essay.

Do you like media studies? Maybe clarify that here. It's a little thing, but your reader doesn't know your interests!

I'm commenting on this one and not the one titled "super blog post" because this one is longer... I hope that's right! Also, please refer to my comments on your actual blog post. I'll try not to replicate those here :)

So true, I like this about our class as well. It'd be cool to expand on the diversity of our class and the diversity of people involved in the ouster community this summer

You might be planning on doing this in your final paper, but I think being a part of the Dance Team is a really unique perspective. You basically pump people up about UVa all the time! I think I would be interested to read more about what your experience was like in all the Sullivan stuff as someone who has to be super excited about UVa.

I think your connection here could be a little clearer. You're saying grades, how to interview, and people with similar interests are ALL part of why you picked UVa? :) Maybe be a bit clearer in answering your initial question, which I think, by the way, is a good starting point.
