Its easy to see then why many black nationalist groups during the civil rights Movement adopted marxist ideology. What is extremely frustrating is that there are so many who see statistics like this and STILL do not believe that there are no discriminatory practices going on. White men across America were afraid because for the first time, power had begun to taken out of their hands, power that they had been told their entire lives they were entitled to. A black man was president. A woman was the presidential front-runner. Now, Trump won, obviously. But I don't think that any of what I thought during the campaign. Hillary received 2.5 MILLION more votes than Trump did. His is currently sitting at a 37% approval rate. Anything he has attempted to do has been thwarted because he is politically unpopular. Trump represents the inevitable anger that comes from pushing for progress. Maybe America wasn't necessarily ready for a black president, but that doesn't that it wasn't an incredibly important thing for the country. Right now it looks bleak because of the man in the White House. But remember that he is only there because of a fluke of the system, and as a reaction to all the progress we've made. As long as we keep making steps forward, I'm willing to put my faith in the American people that we wipl always be on the side of progress in the end, even if it is hard at times.
