My company is changing the way we deliver content daily. we have changed from delivering in a classroom to using IVL - Interactive Virtual Learning. This present better ways to be interactive and engaging to a wider audience delivering the same message. We have more people to use different technology tools to conduct experiential learning of a lesson, where as we may have just read it out loud. We have the technology for student to make teaching videos of a lesson in groups and present it in Bluejeans, Skype, or Adobe connect. We take a lesson and substitute it with a student video and augment it with their own twist and modification. The message and integrity of the lesson is still there, however they student has taken that lesson and made it there own. This type of learning is sustainable for weeks, months, and even years to come. It fosters a genuine engaging and motivated work-learning balance. So much so we named it Project Agile. We have innovated into a technology company and it was just a matter of time before we incorporated all the tree trimming to exemplify it. Not sure how it is in the government sector or K-12, but we all more than likely share the same space in learning and daily engagement. Although we do not have all the technology tools at our disposal, we need to be vigilant in our opportunities to think quick and deliver flawlessly. Having the TPCK at the ready, we should always as teachers and instructors have a contingency plan ready to initiate experiential or flipped learning when the class calls for it. We have to anticipate when to use the triple E, if not always. I deal with adults and this is a daily assignment for me. We dont want to lose the lesson objective, but we do want to deliver it in a way that it will be sustained and not become cold storage in a week or two. When the same lesson that the student would normally read to themselves becomes a teachback lesson or full room participation in a game like format, you have flipped the learning. Put the learning in the students hands as much as possible and be the best facilitator for guidance and direction. They will retain the learning with more positive enthusiasm. The conditions, devices, learning, and instructor must be engaging to produce engagement. Working in groups to keep the focus on a game or scavenger hunt is an example of using this engagement framework to the benefit of the student learner. Yes technology is in the classrooms and yes some teachers are still teaching from some very old book, or no book at all sometimes. Would pc’s make a difference in the classroom? From many studies, it appears that technology makes a difference. It is difficult however when the rollout is not evenly distributed across the learning playing field. Getting the most up to date and relevant information to students will take technology in the form of individual work stations or tablets. IT is the same cost as books, however you can continue to update and find information real time. There is a need for PC’s in all 100,000 schools across the country and a bigger need for experienced facilitators with a background in handling technologies. The next step is to get that paid for by the Federal and State governments. The technophiles had the evolution of change from a software and hardware perspective, however the challenges we face are too many teachers will not conform. The technology of today will force you to conform whether you are a fan of it or not. The changes in technology leave and uncertainty with the teachers and I can understand that. The language has changed so much so that terms like machines, wiring, and assorted accessories are not applicable in 2018. The technophile's speak of things like Microsoft word docs, disks, and encoded information. Today we have shifted to more advanced technology in and outside the classroom, and in the work environment. the innovation of the 1990’s pale in comparison to the technical infrastructure of today. The challenge is we are just getting started and its 2018. It is without question, that technology needs to be the classroom of today and tomorrow for us to be competitive in today's’ society. Everything we do is on the workstation, whether traditional, online, or distance learning. It is a common way of life in the corporate classroom. Learning impulse manifested itself in our classrooms because that is their main tool we work with. With andragogy students, we had to become innovative in our delivery and facilitation. The assignments were always spelled out and the assessments were much easier to deliver because they were timed, instantly checked, and feedback administered. It aligns because technology is a way of life and our educational infrastructure with technology is fragile at best. This is the age of disruption and it is our responsibility to get our children ready for the knowledge worker positions of 2020 and 2025. It takes a village to educate a child and these teachers are that village. The village is the teachers, Khan academy, and a winning attitude to succeed. It is not easy to repeat a course unless you have others that are in the same situation as you. That at least relieves the stress of embarrassment and encourages motivation. The teachers are as invested in the students learning and futures as the students themselves. The teachers would not be providing the tools and resources for the students unless they are also compassionately concerned about all the students. Khan Academy is a resource available to every person willing to increase their skills in any subject that deals directly with education.
