How to Teach Kids

I agree that this is frustrating because I do not believe there is 1 specific way to "teach" children. Each child has their own learning style and it is educators job to help the child discover that style in order for them to be successful in their learning, whether this be in a subject or developing skills to find information.

Reading Laterally

Learning about the idea of reading laterally has interested me because it was not something I have heard of before. I think it is interesting and not something that I would typically do unless I was doing very extensive research on a topic. However, a question arises in my head, though you are seeking out other sources, how can you be sure that those articles are reliable?

Never Holding a Newspaper

I think about this and realize that although this may be true for many teens, I do believe that some teens have indeed held newspapers and many times at that. Along with this it leads me to think about how older generations are judging our generation because we get our news from online. Even though we no longer use newspapers as often I like to think that there are easier and more up to date ways to get news and our generation simply uses those strategies.

I agree, being on our phones allows older people to judge us but the reality is that is how we have been raised. If smart phones had been around when our grandparents were young they too would have used their phones just as much as our generation.

I agree that parents need to be checking in on their children's mental health. This day and age it is crazy the amount of negative things that children are exposed to that can impact them in some way, that could lead to mental health issues.

I also was shocked at this statistic. 2012 to me seemed not so long ago and is around when I first got a smart phone. It is especially crazy given the fact that at that age I did not even use some of the social media I do today.

This statistic while terrible, does not surprise me. All day long on social media people are constantly complaining and being rude to others. Parents could benefit from this by not allowing their children to view certain social media sites.

This could also be useful to app designers in maybe creating a filter on posts that does not allow hateful or hurtful words/comments.
