Its so funny because even though I taught the entire unit we had to make so many changes to the second unit. It was such a big difference in how the students learned and processed the information and how they reacted to others.

I feel the same way, every year we will have a new set of students that come with their own experiences, strengths, and weakness. They may also come with barriers and new challenges.

This is another statement I agree with. Personally when in Jan and Kobe died. My students were impacted so much as 4th graders and started to open and share the deaths in their families and were allowed to be emotional.

I was glad I created an environment where they felt they were comfortable enough to share and not be judge.

We as educators have to create an environment where students know they are safe and allowed to share in all aspects.

I can agree with this statement. Although I feel I have the text book knowledge, when I enter the classroom for the first time it all flies out the window. As If I this is all a complete puzzle and I do not have a long time to figure it out.

I feel it is a great thing to know more than one language, and it is a teaching "moment" for those in the whole class. If students are able to be celebrated for having know another language they will be more socially accepted.

Yes, I feel that the students are viewed as if they have a problem and then are placed with an IEP at times for not knowing English.

I agree with this comment, having students called emergent bilinguals is celebrating their native language rather than putting a preference to just knowing English.
