I agree and I think a lot of this has to do with the diversity of social media applications. All the popular apps seem entirely different and allow people to not get tired of the platform despite all having similar premises.

I think this is emblematic of the changing world and how those encounters with technology can't be prevented. I agree with this compromise of using the devices smartly rather than trying to prevent it all together.

I think the fact that teachers are having input on this is extremely significant. It's easy to dismiss either side as being biased towards one side of the argument, so seeing that both sides can see both perspectives interchangeably had made strides to getting to the root of the issue.

Partnering with experts on your subject seems like a fairly obvious practice for making a successful system. It's odd how Apple hasn't done this and it raises concern for how children's development hasn't been a significant factor in children's safe use of the internet.

A stand-up comedian, Pete Holmes, did a routine that captures this point in the article. He talked about how we no longer have that feeling of anticipation and mystery in our lives because we can look up anything we're wondering about in seconds. It's as poignant as it is funny and is relevant to this exact topic.

It sounds as though a large component of this is how the cell phones are used. For a vast majority of people, cell phones are an inextricable part of daily life and finding productive applications for them seems much more feasible than trying to get rid of them.
