It creates a cycle of inability. After being released from jail, the label "felon" grabs people's attention and immediately turns people away. This, unfortunately, can lead to the former inmate to return to prison.

I don't believe ending the war on drugs will reduce incarceration rates because the crime with the highest rates are property crimes. (continued)

However, I do believe that ending the war on drugs will decrease the racially profiling that African Americans face today.

Unfortunately, the discrimination Black Americans have received in the past rolled over into today. It can be seen, not only in the criminal justice system, but in the workforce as well.

I agree with this statement. For example, the new Georgia hands-free law will cause more people to go to jail because it was not enforced before.

From a cost perspective, mass incarceration is an issue. The funds that are spent on housing inmates for petty crimes could be spent on more important things. Healthcare, environmental protection, etc.

Incarceration is ineffective at reducing crimes that are gang or drug related. This is because the influences and mindsets that lead to the commitment of the crime are deeply rooted in the communities these crimes are committed in.

I agree, there is a cycle of black men being incarcerated which creates disruption in the prisoner's families. Not only is the family structure broken, but the family bonds are as well.

The Unites States is a nation that has a large number of minorities with majority in power. When this occurs, there is often injustice in the legal system. This is because there is no relatedness to those in power, majority, to those being mistreated, the minority. As stated in the video, "nowhere in the world incarcerates as much as we (Americans) do". This is because in any other nation, the minority is the majority.
