I agree with Logan. In the first three paragraphs where he starts saying "Man is the" right after he says "only". I think it really puts power and pushes what he is trying to say, just by using that one word.

He makes this sentence shorter than the rest in the paragraph to really put emphasis on the fact that he is ashamed.

I feel like she's listing the people she's addressing by their ranks. From most important (highest up) to least important. Starts with God and ends by addressing her brother and sisters, the common people.

Religion

She starts off her speech with a sentence relating to religion. This automatically brings in emotion because people can relate personally and emotionally to her talk of God. Especially because she says "The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful."

I think she uses these words throughout her speech to make it seem like she's just another person. She puts her power aside to be more relatable. The use of these words is also to remind people that whatever happens they are all in it together, including her. Her power doesn't exempt her from anything, everyone's human, anyone can get it, and they will all get through it.

Is the purpose to give people hope and remind them they are doing a good job?

By talking about what everyone is doing, she lets everyone know that they are all doing the best they can. It gives people hope and makes them want to keep doing whatever they can to help get through it.

Families can try to do better for themselves but because of poverty and the laws made, it makes it hard. In this paragraph it talks about how parents have no money and then because of that, the kids can't go to school. Then the parents or even the kids turn to crime to support each other. As the kids grow up (and find out this is what they "need" to do to survive) they might have families but the same thing might happen all over again because nothing has changed. It's just a big circle.

Does he use logos to show that what he's stating is actually built off of facts and not opinions, so it gives him more reliability and really helps make his points? For example he uses it to show how bad it was for the Africans.

Through this whole paragraph he uses commas and makes his sentences long, but right at the end he doesn't. He does this to put more emphases on how dangerous it is.
