We shouldn’t be ashamed of being Christians. We should be following God because we truly love him, and we should not be ashamed of that.

Listening to the Holy Spirit, God has already given him to us. We shouldn’t let the other voices drown out his voice.

When you believe in Jesus, he gives you the right to be one of God’s children. When Jesus asked the disciples who he was, it wasn’t because he wasn’t sure who he was. It was because he wanted the disciples to know who he was so that they

Even though God has the power to heal us at once, sometimes, we need multiple steps for us to heal. In this case, it can be our spiritual blindness.

Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Sometimes we begin stuff but don’t finish. God will always end every good work in us, including healing.

Just like they brought the man to Jesus, we must also be bringing people to him. When we meet Jesus, he takes us by our hand and guides us. He likes when we go to secluded areas to talk with them alone.

I think the leaven Jesus is talking about in here is the Pharisee’s hypocrisy. Leaven is also everything that pushes us away from God. Jesus said beware the leaven, because just like Paul said in Galatians 5:9

Proverbs 23:9.
“ Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.”
Jesus doesn’t even bother with the Pharisees, because no matter what he says, they will never truly listen to him.

Everything Jesus says is important. If he says something more than once, then that is SUPER important. What I take away from this and the 5000 Fed story is that no matter what situation you maybe be in, God will always take care of you and your needs.

We should be running after Jesus just like these people were.

Many times when we’re in trouble, we run to a friend, or a sibling, or parents, but our first instinct should be to run to Jesus and God and ask for help or guidance.

I think it’s amazing how many Gentiles had more faith in Jesus than most Jews.

First the Centurion and now the Syrophoenician woman. I think Jesus was awed at how many Gentiles had great faith in him. I wonder if they’re the reason why God let’s Gentiles into his kingdom now.

I think Jesus is talking about the impurity of our spirits.

While the Pharisees and the scribes are talking about how unclean hands and food make people unclean, Jesus is telling them how it’s not what enters the body, rather, what comes out of the body, that makes someone unclean. By this, he meant pride and selfishness that the Pharisees and scribes had. That’s what makes our spirits unclean.

What if they followed tradition more than scripture because that’s how they were taught when growing up?

People do a lot of things because that’s how they were taught to do things. The Pharisees might’ve been taught to value tradition. I think it’s very important to constantly read the Bible and the Scriptures to be able to understand how God really wants us to behave.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” I think Jesus told them to not bring anything except a staff, because because they were doing God’s work, and the worker is worthy of the wages. God would provide them with everything they needed.

What I can see here is that Jesus had the quality to be amazed both positively and negatively, in this case. It reminds me of when he was amazed by the Roman centurion and his great faith because he asked Jesus just to give the word and his servant would be healed. In this case, he was amazed by their lack of faith, and that’s why he couldn’t perform miracles among them.

What I can infer from reading verse 3 is that people often see people they grow with with disdain. Not always because they’re trying to be mean.

Sometimes it’s because of jealousy or envy, but other times it’s because they don’t wanna feel inferior because they weren’t able to achieve what the other person with the same background and conditions was able to do. Sometimes it’s easier to put down a person than to acknowledge that you didn’t thrive because of your lack of effort.
