Multiple Jobs

The idea of one person with multiple jobs is so interesting. I haven't considered this change in writing before- I think I align closer to growing with with one person holding many jobs. I'm wondering if, using these different digital tools, we can still split up the "jobs" in a group, but make it more of an online peer effort to get to the "publishing" point of a student paper.

Video Essays

I'm glad you brought this up because it reminded me of a conversation I had with a few students. They were complaining that we were writing an essay in English class, but were able to make a "video essay" in History. To them, the projects were interchangeable because of the word essay, but in reality they were practicing completely different types of writing. I do agree that our language is not adapting as quickly as our online formats are.

I do think that different levels of "create" is missing from education. Thinking out lout here... a student should have the opportunity to try different ways of creating- but usually, schools will only take one or two.

I'm with you on this. This is one of those sentences where it lays out the expectations that we have as educators. Even the follow up sentence explain that it doesn't have to be that particular order, but it's still the goal.

I never really see much about students in the "networked" world, but this made me consider how much of our and our students' lives really are networked to be digital. They do need to be able to be effective digitally as well as be critical. I like how this is phrased.
