We see the bringing up of the train station again which shows the grit of the Aunt but we also see that she was in a lot of discomfort but dont hear her complain about it. This shows us how strong the aunt it and how she can deal with discomfort since she usually gets things on her own or knows how to get things done on her own.

The Location is in the Mountains. Mountains are usually associated with accomplishments because you must reach the top to achieve your goals. Since we know the Theme is Hard work and persistence we can link the mountains to the hard work of the Aunt and to how long the lagacy's have been passed down from generation to generation.

THe location of the train station is usually filled with smoke and coal and a lot of confusion. We know from later on in this paragraph that His aunt is covered in soot and that its obvious she works a lot. thus adding to my theme about hard work and perseverance and how the train station with its smoke and dirtiness shows us how these people are not afraid to work hard.

Clark calling her a pious woman shows the respect he has for her faith and for her as a person. It adds to the feelings we already know he has for her and adds to the respect we already know he has for her from the earlier paragraphs

This metaphor shows how clark views his Aunt. He knows the struggle that she's been and how hard life has been on her so he acknowledges her hardships and has respect for her.

Here thoreau touches on another flaw of the Government. He points out how flawed the Government is to the point where they even jail the people that respect them. Basically a stab in the back from something that you fell passionate about. He also makes a claim that the law cannot make anyone more just. Mainly saying that the Law cannot make anyone better than they already are, and if they cannot get better then they're bound to get worse.

Reply- Restriction of Individualism

I agree with this. I see how it even connects to America's situation today. Where one family gets treated differently based on financial stability, while another family may get judged on Race, or Religion, etc. All of these factors would result in the slight discrimination of the people by the Government. I also feel that Thoreau is hoping for not just the government to get along with the people, but the people to get along with each other as well. He is imagining a place that is nowhere today, a place where everyone gets treated the same no matter what situation they're in. He is wishing for something that today seems so far away, but only if people had the courage to stand up to the government then His dreams would be achieved. Not to the point of rebellion, but to the point of speaking out more, if that makes sense.

Best line

This is the best line in my opinion, because it shows how corrupt a Government can be. In this sentence thoreau is practically stating that the laws in this country are so unjust that the same place for a criminal, and a do gooder is Prison. Thoreau is showing here that the system is flawed and is shedding light on the changes that needs to happen later on in the paragraph. Thoreau not only is showing the corruption of the Government, but in a way is asking for people to have the courage to stand up to these unjust laws. For people to have the courage to make a shift in the system of government that is fair to everyone. Not matter the skin color, race, or language attached to the person.

Individualism, A Romantic Ideal

Thoreau in this sentence is clearly pointing out the importance of Individualism. He does this when saying, that the only true way to pursue your goals is to do it alone, and not cheat your way to them. He is trying to make the point that if you really have a hunger for your goals, and dreams, then you need to reach them with your own will. He is not just talking about personal goals, but just how we perceive life in General, and learn to be Independent. He stresses the importance of being independent and not necessarily needing anyone to reach your own ambitions. It's not always the destination that counts, but how you get there.

Shows the depth of the land and shows the feelings that took place there. The use of the word "Vanished" sets a dark tone mainly because it comes off right after speaking about the memories of the land. The author also uses the word "every" which shows how everything was affected by these people no matter how little and this restates the claim that this land is dear and sacred to the natives

The use of the word Sacred shows how valuable and dear the land is for the Natives. Its a strong statement because the natives didnt even know at this time the riches that were in their lands, but they cared more about their identity and heritage than the riches the white settlers were after.
