Janie's grandma had realized that Janie had been growing up at this point. Janie's grandma also thought that in this moment that she was ready to become a house wife because she had caught her "little" Janie kissing a boy.

Janie hadn't thought too much about her race because she had lived in a white neighborhood and nobody had ever pointed out or treated her differently because of her color. This was also just a bold statement to say in the book.

The author said, "she crawled back into the computer." Reading that sentence alone I would think of someone like crawling into a computer monitor and be living in there, which sounds really weird. Reading that sentence with the text stated before it actually sounds really cool and a great choice of words used. It shows that she goes back to looking at the computer and is probably looking like she is staring very intensely at the computer but that is because she is taking the test.

When I first read over the poem I realized the author decided to use names. Why did the author decide to do that? The author could have easily replaced the names with a guy, boy, them, or a girl. Does he think maybe we can picture them better? Maybe someone has a picture of what a Stefon looks like in our mind, or a Michelle or Kandence.

To want to move to a different country to learn the language seems difficult and stressful. I would just want to take a different language class in my school or hire a tutor. You would probably learn the language quicker and want to study as much as possible so then you can understand people though. It would also be like studying that language 24/7 since everyone is speaking it. It seems to be more effective in the long run but very stressful.

Malcolm London says lessons on lessons but never learn to swim. Students can't learn that much just by looking at a lesson once or taking notes over it once and never looking back at it. You have to look over the material, maybe look over it a hundred times. You might even have to rewrite the notes but take your time rewriting them so you think about everything you have written down. You have to engage in school to really learn the information. You got to want it, you do not want to drowned.

People learn better in different ways, so maybe he figured that he is best being more of a visual learner. Repetition helps your brain keep that information in there, so seeing it and then writing down the information would help him. He talks later on about "Over and over," that will help your brain familiarize the information. He is taking the best steps that anyone could make with learning new information.

I agree with you on the dictionary being the hardest book to read. I haven't even read the dictionary, but that probably gave him a really good base to start with. The dictionary gives a pronunciation text. If he learned how to read those words then he also knew the meaning of those words along with it.

I like the quote, "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional" by Chili Davis. You can still have your moments where you act like a kid or do something you did when you were five. I still will go back and watch Disney movies and my 42 year old mom will watch them with me. Aging is just another year to learn something more about this world or you. Your mind will keep growing with the years but you will still have that younger you inside of you.

Ms. Jones could have flipped out on him and he could have, maybe, gotten in legal trouble for what he tried to commit. What Ms.Jones did probably made him feel worse than her calling the police on him. He probably felt bad, seeing how nice she was in return when he was going to steal from her. He probably won't want to do that to someone again because she kind of guilted him of what he did. He would have probably tried stealing from more people but tried to be better at it if she would have called the police on him.

I am feeling that the genre of this poem is more persuasive. It's saying that you need to let them be there for you. Some people do not want help, they think it will show that they are weak, but we need to accept that everyone has bad days and it is so much better working through it with someone at your side.
