This shows how Janie has no feelings for Johnny Taylor, and it also shows how Janie is afraid that she is going to be married off to someone she doesn't care for.

London referring to high school as a training ground resonated with me. He points out that high school prepares students for society. He explains how our capitalistic economy rewards people who step over others. I feel this to be true because big business owners always make much more than the people they employ.

This sentence shows that she too committed acts that she regrets, either stealing or another sin. She is ashamed of her actions and hopes that God doesn't know of them. Because of this, she relates to the boy.

I personally have family who lives in Italy and remember them being affected by the virus back in March. Back then it hadn't reached the United States and I remember thinking that it would blow over and that the Chinese government would contain the spread. However my indifference along with many others' is why it got as bad is it did. I remember my uncle, who lives in Milan, was not able to leave his house for about a month, as well as my grandparents in Lucera. It was at this moment that I realized that the virus was serious and that it would take every single person to stop the spread. Every one of us needs to cooperate in order for us to stop it otherwise it may become an issue for much longer.

I believe that this is not the perception of Lucien, but the perception of Jack. I think this because when everyone else looks at Lucien, they see his disability, not his humanity. When Jack looks at Lucien, he does't see him in the same way. He sees an independent individual man who is not defined by his disability. Jack sees Lucien, not his disability.

This segment here highlights Jack's role as a sort of parental guardian to the boys. Jack makes something like testifying in court seem like such a big deal to Lucien to make him seem like he's doing something extraordinary. He is attempting to boost his confidence and ease his nerves before going into testify.

This segment here is showing how Jack perceives Lucien. Everybody else in the courthouse views him as a simple minded moron, while Jack seems him as his own complex sophisticated person. This shows Jack's love and compassion towards the boys.

Reality of Mental Illness

The author decides to include this mental disorder on its own line, rather than include it with the others from the previous line, because schizophrenia relates to a person's perception of what is reality and what is fantasy. It is included on its own line because the main idea of this poem is to entice people to acknowledge mental illness and he is basically saying here that people believe that all these illnesses aren't real. The next lines support this by acknowledging the reality of mental illness and urges people to speak up and aid those who fall victim to them.
