Grandfather

All throughout this story our narrator keeps talking about how the voices of his grandfather keep coming back to him, and he keeps trying to push it away. It is clear that they left a lasting impact on our narrator. I wonder how often our narrator actually sits and thinks about what his grandfather said or if everytime he thinks of his grandfather he just pushes them away.

In the past few weeks, I have been employing the "managing impulsivity" habit. For one example, there have been a few instances at work where one of my managers have crossed the line with some of the things that they have gotten mad at myself and fellow coworkers for and looking back on those situations, there were a few things that I wanted to say them that were just impulsive thoughts that did not really hold any truth and would have just made the entire situation worse than it already was. I have also been "managing impulsivity" by not buying every cool piece of technology that I see that I want when I see adds and what not while online.

Finding Humor

To me, humor has always been something that has made learning something more enjoyable and easier to remember whether it be because something humorous helped me to understand a topic better or if something humorous happened to lightened the mood in an otherwise dull and boring situation and make me pay more attention. There are some exceptions for serious topics where humor should not be utilized, but outside those few exceptions, humor is something that should always be welcomed.

Connection

There is a connection between this poem and a poem by Linda Hogan called "Trail of Tears: Our Removal." Hogan is a member of the Chickasaw tribe. Her poem is about her ancestors experience on the Trail of Tears. I found a connection between these two poems because they both deal with facing the overall same struggle, but are being faced in different ways. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/57881/trail-of-tears-our-removal

Denise Sweet has a connection to "An American Sunrise" because she helped make sure and encouraged Native American voters to come out and vote during the 2020 election making sure that their voices were heard showing that they 'are still America.'

While I would have to say that I would be interested and intrigued by home much difference there is, but I know for a fact that there are some people out there that if/when they find out differently some people see things than them, they would not take that as a good thing, but would rather try by just about any means necessary to try and change that which would not be good.

All of the questions in this paragraph are what if questions and that, to me, does not make it sound to promising that it could/is going to happen. Besides, even if you can get one person to go along with it, I do not know if you could get multiple people to as well which would kind of ruin the effectiveness of it.

I do not think this would work

I kind have touched on this a little in a previous comment, but I feel like it could be brought up here too. We, as humans, typically only hangout with people that agree with what we think and see the world the same way that we see it, so gaining more colleagues would not open you up to more perspectives, but rather keep showing you the same perspective over and over again which would just solidify more and more in your head that your point is the right one.

More True Today

I feel like this sentence has even more truth today than it did make when it was written. With everything going on with the pandemic and associated events and activities, it all could change on a dime. I remember distinctly my first day at work after everything had shut down and how the day before everything seemed normal and how eerie and quiet it felt on that first day shutdown.

Would this really work?

I feel like people tend to hangout more with people that like the same things that they do and that tend to see things the same way. So, with that said, even though this sounds like an excellent idea on paper, I do not think that it would really work out well in reality.

I would have to agree with Wheatley when she says that it is hard to give our certainties. I feel like this is true because no one likes to admit that they were wrong about something.

Our opinions are our opinions. Everyone's opinion is a true opinion because there is no such thing as a false or wrong opinion so then why should be have to be taught to state our opinions as true if they always are?
