I find it ironic how Sedaris kind of just decided to jump into a whole new world the alphabet is the first thing u learn in school around age 6 he jokes with himself because it seem like it would be something basic he would need to know.

sedaris using a dull feeling intro to set the mood for the beginning of this piece. it doesn't seem like he is eager to go back to collage.

Fredrick wanted to spread knowledge he believed knowledge is power so he used bread as a reward to get the kids to be a type of peer teachers to spread the word it was a very risky yet smart move from him.

At the age my classmates and i are now we might take something like a new birthday for granted, you never feel different on you birthday you just gained a new title that can mean more freedom or ect. but we should take aging for granted. I heard a saying that stuck with me 'today your older than you have ever been but as young as you'll ever be "

The woman could have easily called the cops and got him in trouble or just left him there with no lessons learned. Instead she actually tries to help the boy even after he tried to steal from her. Its clear she has a good since of morality for helping him. I believe he has to feel guilty but grateful for how she treats him, because he is in need of affection.

London is proving the point of haw square and cut and dry school is. he talks about getting there at 7:45 an confining to the basicality that school trains us to be a part of. He knows its importance of education but he also mention that when it comes down to it " filling out a scantron isn't going to stop bullets flying

Unlike others, Morrie full on faces his emotions and is not afraid to face them. He has such a different approach on death and stays calm and collected with such a dark topic.

I think Morrie getting closer to death makes him realize the importance of his family. He is clearly lonely, but seeing his children saddens him because he knows he will be leaving them soon. In a way it seems like Morrie is living through Mitch
