This is a habit that both I and the Silver Creek basketball team are implementing in our state run this year. We are stronger together than individually.

"If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special." This is a quote from Jim Valvano's 1993 ESPY Speech. He was not a scientist, he was a basketball coach. But this quote is something everyone, no matter the profession, should take the heart.

Confidence in itself is an interesting idea. But this situation debunks the idea of "practice makes perfect." Instead, it shows that "perfect practice makes perfect."

CONNECTION to It Is Going To Rain by Ofelia Zepeda

The connection I found was with poet Ofelia Zepeda
and her poem “It Is Going To Rain.” The connection was fairly easy and it is to the comment I posted above. In that comment I referenced stanza 6 talking about how people sweep things under the rug. Poet Ofelia Zepeda challenges this by explaining that there are always signs that the rug has something underneath. You won’t be able to hid under the rug forever.

I always find myself wondering if I am just making stuff up when it comes to analyzing poems. If a poet mentions a “blue window,” I don’t want to be the guy who thinks it has a specific meaning, when in reality the poet just likes blue windows. That said, notice line 6 when the poet says, “ Easy if you played pool and drank to remember to forget.” This is in direct contrast to line 11 as it pertains to alcohol. Line 6 seems to talk about how being “the same” or sweeping problems under the rug is an easy thing to do. Then line 11 uses the word “us” as it shows how we all at one point have used this “alcohol” to solve our problems.

I agree with this sentence 100%. I heard someone say something the other day that reminded me of this. It was "People don't want your opinion. They want their opinion coming out of your mouth."

The brain filters out what it does not want to hear. I have noticed this with learning about new things. Take for example, I learned more about cars. The next day at school it will seem like everyone happened to be talking about cars.

I think it is very interesting that you bring this up because the narrator is most obviously talking from the point after the “story” of the book. It is more wisdom based as if this is what he took from experiencing years of invisibility. And it foreshadows what his grandfather was saying. I get the same “kill them with kindness” vibe in his answers, and again, this is far from the narrator we maybe seen so far in the book. And I love the quote, “Sometimes it is best not to awaken them; there are few things in the world as dangerous as sleepwalkers.” This takes on so many meanings that I’ll leave it for you all to find........ but come on Mr. Hankins, leave politics out of room 407 lol.

The characters is the film are introduced at the very beginning. This is unlike many movies that are played today. It makes sense that this movie has a play that is with it. I think this allows the audience to get to know the characters.
