Losing himself

It seems as though with in this sentence the narrator has lost himself within his new life. Especially in the way that he describes how he sees himself through a tunnel. The narrator also goes on to explain how he can see his old self and this new version of himself, almost as though he is lost somewhere in between.

After growing up in a almost sheltered environment where I did not get to experience many new things, I have finally become old enough to start doing those things on my own. I would say that one of my biggest goals in life is to experience as much of life as possible by trying new things, meeting new people, and just living. I did not know that this sort of mind set was a habit for most people, but it makes sense because it is human nature to be curious.

This past year I have been trying to include this habit more so in my life. In doing so, I have made so many new memories and experienced so many different things. I learned how to ski, I went cliff diving, and so much more. I cannot wait to continue using this habit in order to learn new things.

After reading this poem, I did some research into finding a poem that I felt could go hand-in-hand with this one. This search lead me to the poem, "America, I Sing Back" by Allison Adelle Hedge Coke. The reason I selected this poem was because I felt as though the two poems sort of expressed the same idea. Coke's poem it seems to reflect how Native Americans took care of America before it was the country that it is now. It also expresses the longing to one day be able to have this sort of caring relationship back with their country.

Just as Nico noticed the repetition of the word "we", I noticed this as well. I noticed it for a different reason however because of the pattern in the way in which it is repeated. This pattern being that there is a "we" at the end of a sentence every two lines.

Seeing as most students use the same studying habits every time that they are trying to learn new information, is it really true that we need to remove being comfortable in order to learn?

A person not being able to obtain all the information in the universe is the reason for why we now have so much information at our finger tips. This is due to the fact that the generations before us recorded their experiences and their knowledge in order for it to be passed down. By passing it down, they have allowed us to become educated in new topics.

As someone that grew up in less favorable conditions than others, I would not agree with your statement. I have been through many scenarios in my life that most people cannot relate to, which has caused me to feel alone. Although sometimes disadvantages can bring people together, when the disadvantage is more related to trauma then it is no longer relatable.

I understand that the article wants us to change our view point, but when it comes to school I don't think the same thing applies. This is due to the fact that the school system is rooted in giving grades for the quality of a person's work. It would be difficult for the education system to work without some sort grading scale.

I can see what you were trying to get across, but I disagree. If we think about it, if we were never given an incentive, such as the A on our report card, we would have likely never had a motive to do any of our work. Success at the end of the is sadly measured by mostly academic success.

After all of the new things I have tried this year, I would definitely say that disturbance is my friend. I have made so many more memories this year in which I had to push myself out of my comfort zone than without being outside my comfort zone. For the rest of my life I hope to continue testing my limits.

I feel as though as a person grows up, they begin to establish their own ideas. This allows them to create their own questions about what is going on around them.

I never would have thought of trying to relate the textbook to this essay. This quote fits perfectly with the theme of this essay. It is also interesting that a textbook we are learning from even tells us how we will truly begin to learn.

I wish society would be more accepting of people not understanding new concepts. If society was not like this then people may be more open to trying and doing new things.

I agree with you, Trey. Unlike many movies, the characters in this one are introduced at the very beginning. I believe they did this in order for the audience know these characters n an almost personal level by the end of the movie. I know that by the end of the movie I felt as if I knew each character personally.

"How do I release my emotions in a safe way?" or "How do I describe my depression?"

After reading very little about Anne Sexton, I found that she used her poetry to help battle her depression. She did, sadly, lose her battle with depression. Her poetry is a reflection of this battle and tells her story. So I think some questions she may have been asking herself while writing this were, "How do I release my emotions in a safe way" or "How do I describe my depression?" I am not even sure if she really would have asked herself a question, but if she did it may have been like those.
