So…I asked why. That is always a dangerous question. Why do folks assume the worst of this simple question. I just wanted to do and share something with folks, I needed to know if there was some legal reason why they could not be shared. Or some other good and fair reason. Otherwise I was going to have to do a reroute like the Internet teaches us is what you do,
I keep looking at “unembeddable” and think it is not a real word. Maybe it’s the concept that my brain has trouble with. What do you mean? A keynote you can’t share elsewhere?

Power increasingly in our attention-driven information economy comes to those who grab the public eye or some public’s eye. So being poor in this instance might be attention poor . What is worse is if you are both capital poor and attention poor? An increasingly common condition in our world today.

It took all day to get an answer. And that’s OK because the folks who actually had the power to correct the oversight (which it was) were busy doing other probably more important things. My whole point in this was not to be a jerk. My point was to get my fucking question answered. It was only along the way that became a jerk. I am that dog with that bone. In the end the issue became one of those without the power to attract enough attention to get a timely answer. I was just a virtual participant. I had not paid for a first class ticket so I damned sure wasn’t going to get a warmed hand towel. This is how this works for those on the margins without power. Sometimes they gotta rock the podium. If that makes me a jerk then I am a jerk, But I am a jerk with a reason for being so. I get the feeling I made some folks a little irritated. Sorry. Guess I won’t be getting any damned scholarship to the next institute.
Well, for a conference that is built on open sharing (right?) and open pedagogy (right?), it seems natural to wonder why you can’t be fairly free with media generated. But I guess there are probably other elements in the mix. We can kickstart the Terry Elliott Give a Dog a Bone DigiPed Scholarship fund. Warm hand towels … extra.

1. I made acquaintance with several like-minded folk who wanted the same answer. The Disgruntled Marginaliax.
2. I did get a response and I was able to do what I wanted. Here are the vids I wanted to share yesterday while the iron was hot:

3. Started a conversation that rendered the invisible visible.
4. Helped stress test the institution in an ad hoc way that may have revealed some blind spots in how virtual participants feel they are treated.
5. Got to participate and got that participation honored in the simplest and best way: they answered my question.
Maybe it is because it is new to me, but I found it difficult to follow the comment with parts of the image. Do I click on the image element and read comment? Or click on the comment and look to see what you are writing about? Just an observation …
