Jessica H: How do you think the 2020 Elections might impact your classroom?
Jessica H: What was it like for you learning to upload images, text, and video to NowComment?
Write about the way you use conversation in your practice.
When they go well, all students are engaged (either listening or speaking) and indicating that they understand the conversation. They make meaningful comments and they build upon their knowledge. When discussions don’t go well, students have their heads on tables, one student might dominate the discussion, or no one speaks. Few—or none—add meaningful insight into the conversation; some students might not understand what is being discussed.
When conversations go well in the classroom, students are participating and engaging in the conversation. Mostly a lot of “piggy-backing” on comments occur. When conversations don’t go well its mostly due students being distracted or not interested in the discussion topic. From my own experiences it due mostly to not understanding the question or vocabulary words that are presented( if a reading is present).
I think this would be good to utilize within discussions whether they be formal structured ones like Socratic Seminars or informal discussions. The online format pushes inclusion while allowing “quiet” students voice in a different form. The added layer of technology allows for students to have a filter between themselves and their audience. This is especially important for kids who suffer from performance anxieties.
Difficult: laptops and internet
How can I upload my text to use in PM?
It a great tool. I can see this being used in the class if and only if we have working laptops and internet.
