Profile Genre Analysis Guiding Questions

  1. Who is the audience?
  2.  In what context is this genre often used?
  3. Who typically uses this genre and for what purpose?
  4. How is this genre formatted (e.g., paragraphs, lists, greetings)?
  5. What are any visual cues that are important (e.g., bullets, highlights, bolding)?
  6. What is the level of formality in the language?
  7. What kind of information does the author tell about the person they are profiling (e.g., facts, quotes, references, images)?
