March for Our Lives releases 'The Most Vicious Cycle' depicting aftermath of a school shooting
March for Our Lives, the anti-gun violence organization founded by survivors of the Parkland, Fla., school shooting, released a new video Friday with singer Kesha that depicts the repeating cycle of school shootings in America.
“The Most Vicious Cycle” is a nine-minute video that repeats the same loop three times, showing the domino effect of responses from politicians, the media and the gun lobby in the wake of a mass shooting.
The video begins by depicting a gunman opening fire in a school hallway with what appears to be an AR-15.
The camera follows the bullets as they pass abandoned cellphones and backpacks and series of memorials.
A rocket signifying the “public debate” is ignited and it releases banners featuring slogans including “gun laws don’t work,” “arm teachers” and “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”
A fan labeled “gun lobby” begins blowing money past politicians in Washington, and a single bullet is swept up by a school janitor.
The video ends with a call for viewers to #VoteForOurLives and back “morally just leaders” during the midterm elections.
“After every shooting, there’s outrage, prayers and false promises. Then it happens again,” March for Our Lives said in a tweet releasing the video.” End #TheMostViciousCycle.”
The song accompanying the video, titled “Safe,” was written by Kesha and her younger brother, Sage Sebert.
“I don't wanna be a moment of silence, I don't wanna be an early grave, When I'm walking through the halls, I don't wanna be brave, I just wanna be safe,” the pair sing.
Kesha wrote on Twitter that she wrote the song after the February shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which left 17 people dead.
Sage Sebert was a senior in high school during the Parkland shooting and produced the track with his older sister.

This first paragraph immediately jumped out at me. I have been listening to Kesha since I was eight, and I love how she us trying to spread awareness for March For Our lives.

It’s sad but it’s true. After every shooting, there seems to be promises for everything from the government saying that they will make new gun laws, to the promises in the media that people will stand up. However, these promises have yet to create change.

When children go to school, they expect to return home every day. Staying alive at school should be a basic necessity guaranteed to students, and safety should come above everything else.
