When you think about the end of your life it can give you a sad feeling. When you are close to it you may feel even worse but when you think of things like “Jazz June” you may think positivity. This could represent someones image of happiness. it means that the poet wants you to do something you love when your life is coming to an end

What is the effect of the short sentences when you read the poem?

How does Brooks’ choice of line breaks impact the poem as a whole? What is the term for this type of line break?

What does it mean to thin a drink? (parents adding water to Apple juice). How could that apply to “thin gin”?
