Blog #7 (Career Fair Verification)

Going into the career fair I made a list of the top 10 businesses that I wanted to visit. Some pertaining to my major and others that looked interesting. One that I had some interest in was the J.E.T. program, they dealt with teaching english in Japan. Coming from Hawaii there are a lot of japanese tourists, so obviously I took japanese as my second language in middle school. I had grown fond of the culture and wanted to learn more about their program, sadly they were looking for seniors and had no internship opportunities since their program is overseas. But, the program that I had no idea about was the Military Sealift Command. They deal with bringing extra supplies to ships, typically Navy ships out at sea that have run out or are running out of supplies. We had a connection because the two recruiters were veterans and my dad is also a navy veteran. I signed up for their program/database and they will contact me during the spring semester about internship opportunities and throughout my senior year about job opportunities. I was pleased to know that I could get an internship that would be close to Charlottesville, in Virginia Beach. It was also a surprise because the other places that I went to, had so many other people that it felt I have no chance of getting a chance to work or be presented with an internship opportunity.
