Dear Junot Diaz
I am amazed about your short story “How to Date a Brown girl, Blackgirl, Whitegirl, or Halfie” because, within the story, you stated some advice that can be applied nowadays.
The first passage that really stands out to me is “Sometimes she’ll run into her friends and a whole crowd will show up, and even though that means you ain’t getting shit it will be fun anyway and you’ll wish these people would come over more often” because it reveals something that the guys sometimes take too hard which is how some girls rather follow their instant-on their first date by inviting friends over when they don’t feel really comfortable but at the same time, wants to get to know the guy better. I think it’s something totally normal based on these girls feeling and it should be respected.
The second passage that I think it’s a really good highlight from your story is “If the girl’s from the Terrace, none of this will happen” because it’s show something vital when it comes to dating a girls, that some guy really don’t take into consideration which is the girl’s background. There is no need in given dating advice that will be used to the girl which doesn’t match with her background. In other words, dating advice needs to match with where she comes from.
Thank you for your writing.
