Recently, I read “The Glass Menagerie”, by Tennessee Williams. I appreciated the fact that I get to read the story. The play is so interesting because I have learned many characters that have helped me to know how to behave in certain situations. I have learned that a person can be a dynamic character and end up being a better person.

The protagonist is Tom his story is set in being a boy who thinks that everything he does is right. He does not listen to what other people have to say to him. At the beginning of the story, Tom was an arrogant man, but true to himself. He kind of not liking in the family that he was living in because of the things that his mother says to him. In my opinion, I think that those negative things that the mother was saying to him kind of tear them apart.

The first local location: The significance of the timeline of the story setting is that they made it happened there because they wanted to show us both sides of reality. Where a middle-class family lives in a town where they are not satisfied with what they have. The mother Amanda her name was. She always thinks that by being perfect she will achieve anything she desires. The next local location led to Amanda’s first actions towards her kids. She would have done it in a different way where her kids would have trust in her.

Tom faces certain forces and pressures. He is up against to words that his mother uses when she talks to him. She uses offensive words that would even make him do things that he never thought he would do. He meets these forces and pressures by deciding to go out for a smoke and not to talk to anyone. Or go to the movies and tell his personal problems to any strangers that he meets on the street. You can see this early in the play scene five This line indicates that: lines 10 Tom replied to his mother “I'm going out to smoke”.

The tension rises when the mother was blaming Tom for not having a job. This might leave a reader feeling confused because of how a good mother could blame their kids like this when their husband did the same and did not react in a way.

Paragraph 6 changes
The play climaxes when Amanda showed her true character. When she invited Jim O'Connor to come over. She did not it out of generosity but out of selfishness. This following evidence shows the true character of Amanda.“ That's right, now that you've had us make such fools of ourselves. The effort, the preparations, all the expense! The new floor lamp, the rug, the clothes for Laura ! all for what? To entertain some other girl's fiancé ! Go to the movies, go! Don't think about us, a mother deserted, an unmarried sister who's crippled and has no job! Don't let anything interfere with your selfish pleasure I just go, go, go - to the movies!”

The falling action ultimately resolves the conflict. Tom decided to let everything go to calm his mother down. He confessed that even though he is not a good bother but he loved to have a sister like Laura. It’s a person vs person type of conflict that’s driving this story. Tom always has issues with her mother.
