The Health Care Community

I have chosen to research the use of readings and writings in the Medical profession. Although the Medical field is challenging and demanding, I am still passionate and interested in becoming a doctor. The current pandemic has reminded me of the importance of doctors and their significant role in society. One day, I hope to be as helpful and useful to my community. Becoming a doctor requires years of education and research in various fields and specialties. Even after completing academic requirements, doctors still use experimentation to discover and learn new things, write patient reports, and read medical journals, books, and magazines. This essay aims to help understand the importance of reading and writing in the Medical profession and how it is a massive part of a doctor's daily life.

Being a doctor in any medical field is a huge responsibility and requires a lot of knowledge and preciseness. One simple mistake can endanger a patient's life; therefore, the Doctor must have all the necessary experience before treating a patient. As mentioned before, doctors undergo years of education before officially becoming doctors. They study and memorize entire textbooks, take exams like the MCAT, and research various health-related topics. Dr.Tannaz Guivatchian, a Gastroenterologist at the University of Michigan Medicine, has explained the importance of research in her field during an interview. She researches cancer cells one day each week, along with treating patients and performing surgeries. Dr.Tannaz Guivatchian talked about how much research opportunities have helped her grow in undergraduate and graduate

school. She advised me to go and find opportunities for myself. She also explained how much she loved science classes such as Biology and chemistry, and that it is essential to love them if a person is going into medicine. Science classes contain much detailed information that serves as a base for everything else. To her, medicine is something she enjoys and does not consider it work. Her interest in medicine began in high school after taking science classes with her favorite teachers. She also reads medical magazines such as The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) that publishes original research, reviews, and editorials that cover all aspects of biomedicine. Another thing that is a massive part of a doctor's daily routine is writing up patients care reports that contain every tiny piece of information, such as documentation of the event or incident, the medical condition, treatment provided, and the patient's medical history. Proper data collection is significant in the medical field. The main ways of communication used by doctors are through email, face to face meetings, as well as pagers. Email is very formal and professional, which is why everyone commonly uses it. Emails are also very efficient and allow for easy referencing. Being a doctor requires excellent communication skills because they have a lot of contact with hundreds of people in a day. Doctors also attend many meetings during their careers, which is why communication skills are essential. Another primary way of communicating between doctors and other medical staff is by using pagers. Pagers describe one-way messages to request recipients to speak if there is a need for their services.

Moreover, I choose to focus on an article on "medical school; a mental battle," written by R. Mohammed and U. Ojha. This article talks about the difficulties that medical

students face and how the considerable workload can affect their mental health in many ways. Whether in the US or anywhere else in the world, medical students have to work hard to overcome all the challenges they face to become doctors and help other people. I agree with the fact that before becoming doctors, medical students should 100% learn everything that is needed; however, it could sometimes bed overwhelming to some individuals. What distinguishes the readings and writings within the medical community from the outsider's society is the writing language. Medical professionals often use formal and academic literature that can sometimes be hard to follow. They use many medical terminology and precise words.

Apart from all the reading and writing that is important within the medical community, we can also find many other readings and writings in the outsider community. Those consist of articles or published studies about the health that everyone needs to know, As well as life-related topics. Studies about blood pressure and heart are beneficial since heart disease is the first leading cause of death in the United States. The public also reads other reviews concerning children's health. One example is the Oxford Academic Journal of public health. This journal published many easy to read articles that use simple language that can be understood by any non-health-related people. The pieces are simplified and use vernacular language to keep the readers interested. Unlike academic and professional writing, that is hard to follow.

The journey to becoming a doctor requires years of education, research, and hard work. From undergraduate school until the end of medical school, students work hard to memorize and understand every detail to save a life someday. But that does not end there, doctors continue to discover and learn about new things every day of their lives. Many diseases have yet to research, many treatments to find, and many more people to help. As an aspiring doctor, I am still at my first stage of this meaningful journey. I am currently studying and developing my basic knowledge in science that will later serve me. My goal is to get the most out of every class that I take and learn as much as I can. As a person who will be reading and writing many articles in the future, I am very excited and hope to accomplish something with my life. Becoming a doctor is a challenge that I am eager to overcome.
