2 The team’s in trouble.
3 If they don’t find an answer soon
4 our championship dreams are over.
5 Down by three, they’re playing
6 like kittens, not Wildcats.
7 With less than a minute to go
8 Vondie brings the ball up the court.
9 Will he go inside for a quick two
10 or get the ball to JB
11 for the three-ball?
12 He passes the ball to number twenty-nine
13 on the right wing
14 and tries to dribble out,
15 but the defense is suffocating.
16 They’re on him like
17 black on midnight.
18 He shoots it over to JB,
19 who looks up at the clock.
20 He’s gonna let it get as close
21 as possible.
22 They’ve gotta miss me right now.
23 Vondie comes over, sets a high pick.
24 JB’s open, he’s gonna take the three.
25 It’s up.
26 That’s a good-looking ball there.
27 But not good enough.
28 It clangs off the rim.
29 The buzzer
30 rings
31 and the Wildcats
32 lose
33 the first half.
