  Global carbon dioxide emissions hit new highs last year, says IEA report

  China has is opening new coal power plants. This contradicts President XI Jinping's statement that china's fossil fuel consumption would peak before 2030. CO2 emissions have a variety of causes. For example, Covid cleared up the skies for a while because planes stopped being used so regularly. This looks like a good thing on paper but because it CO2 levels are still rising it doesn't exactly mean good things are coming in the future.
