Ryan Baird(Sep 30 2021 9:42PM):
I used to be in a touring band. Touring is fun, I encourage anyone who gets a chance to do it to take that opportunity. Even if you're just a roadie.
Professor Jessica Gleason(Sep 30 2021 9:43PM):
It certainly can be a fun opportunity. I worked for a music magazine for a few years and got to travel and meet musicians and write about concerts. It was fun!

Ryan Baird(Sep 30 2021 9:57PM):
That's awesome! I was the drummer in the band. We've traveled to a total of 20 different states in all of our tours. Our shows ranged from small crowds of 15-20 people to a crowd of 200+
Seth Arthur(Sep 30 2021 9:43PM):
I really like the idea of recruiting the best team not on terms of who is the closest, but instead who is the best worldwide
Ryan Gapinski(Sep 30 2021 9:57PM):
This does make a valid point, businesses may not find the qualified candidates in their area and may be able to find someone better further out.
Espino Miguel espino(Sep 30 2021 9:52PM):
crazy to think all office jobs were all online for the beginning of covid and a lot of people realized how convienent it is all most don't want to go back to work
Ryan Gapinski(Sep 30 2021 9:55PM):
I enjoy working with my hands and being in person, but I totally understand how this can be benefical for people who have no reason to leave home just to waste their time in traffic all day. My dad does this everyday driving an hour and loves remote work
Kevin Gross(Sep 30 2021 9:55PM):
This is very beneficial my mom works for Pfizer and they’ve been working from home since COVID and she said that they’re in the process of making things permanent from home because more work is getting done
Jesus sanchez(Sep 30 2021 9:58PM):
It is interesting how it is more common now to work remotely because of covid. School as well is more online friendly.
Kevin Gross(Sep 30 2021 9:59PM):
You definitely have to be disciplined though , I think for someone not having to get up and actually go to an office everyday can throw off an individual especially if they need structure
Sergio Magdaleno(Sep 30 2021 9:38PM):
If I could work remotely while traveling with my favorite band, I'd be over the moon! That's such a cool opportunity!
Sergio Magdaleno(Sep 30 2021 9:39PM):
Also, it's a bit wild how we take for granted the tools we currently have to work remotely when 15 years ago it was such a scarce technoligy
Ryan Baird(Sep 30 2021 9:53PM):
She mentions how day workers want to be able to create flexibility so they can spend more time pursuing what they love. I really felt that, it's hard working 7a.m.-5p.m. or later and trying to pursue my MMA career. It can be pretty difficult to balance.
Professor Jessica Gleason(Aug 26 2021 2:45PM):
She makes a really powerful point here. Flexibility increases productivity while allowing people the freedom to have a better work/life balance. What do you think about this?
Benjamin Spasojevich(Sep 30 2021 9:42PM):
I agree with you miss Gleason. Flexibility can work as a form of freedom and comfort and will help balance work and life. I think flexibility should be sought after when looking for work.
joe ramirez(Sep 30 2021 9:51PM):
i can 100% understand that part and that is why i agree when she said a hybrid style help work places. u can tend to get board doing the same thing over again to long.
joe ramirez(Sep 30 2021 9:45PM):
i agree about flexibility helping if u are more comfortable u will want to work more productive then at a desk job dreading being there.

Sergio Magdaleno(Sep 30 2021 9:42PM):
She makes a great point here, remote working gives employers the ability to hire the best candidate in a much broader area. My team consists of people in California, Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Illinois just to name a few
Kevin Lemens(Sep 30 2021 10:01PM):
The virtual office seems like an interesting way to do it. You can simulate many of the things that you lose by not being in the same location.
Kevin Lemens(Sep 30 2021 10:02PM):
I wonder what the people who "beam in" do when they're not interacting with other people. Do they have a specific place to park and stay logged in, or do they log out until they need to talk to someone?
Raymond Hansen(Sep 30 2021 9:37PM):
Starts off by telling us what she already thinks of remote working. She also lets us know she was with a group interested in futuristic topics such as remote working. This gives me the thought that she might be a bit biased.
Raymond Hansen(Sep 30 2021 9:54PM):
Of course, well her saying she wasn't just interested but obsessed, and was even in a social group, about futuristic ideas which I'm guessing included remote working leads me to believe she'll be more open and enthusiastic towards the idea.
Kevin Lemens(Sep 30 2021 9:58PM):
She is definitely biased. She goes more into the positive possibilities of working remotely and doesn't really discuss any negative repercussions.
Benjamin Spasojevich(Sep 30 2021 9:49PM):
connection should be common sense in every situation. Without connection there is confusion, misunderstandings, and misleading communication.
Professor Jessica Gleason(Sep 30 2021 9:57PM):
It probably should be common but often is not. Communication skills vary wildly because they're not usually formally taught. We learn most of it through behavioral reinforcement.
Benjamin Spasojevich(Sep 30 2021 9:45PM):
The woman speaks important facts that I have well known about. I think that this makes sense and it helps to know that what I know already is also known by other people. It helps to have some kind of confirmation regarding prosperity in the work place.
Raymond Hansen(Sep 30 2021 9:47PM):
I believe it makes sense that this flexibility will make people productive because if you get everything else extra out of the way all you need to focus on and worry about is your work. This could also be a general attitude boost instead of feeling stuck.
