The father dismissing the child was an excellent example of the opposite of empathy. I think many adults sometimes brush aside what a child may be feeling because they may see it as ‘not a big deal’ or think they need to just get over it. I thought this was a great way to show that a child needs their feelings acknowledged even if what they are upset about is over something seemingly small.
