Responsible could mean – managing impulsivity or controlling your behavior, persisting in order to complete all school work and chores.
Respect could be linked with listening with understanding and empathy. Then they could give examples how they did two or three of those.

Perhaps having a few student samples as well, would broaden their thinking.
