If we begin with what is the main problem, we can set students up for success. This student has not fully understood that the problem is not being mismatched but how others react to her uniqueness. If the problem is how she reacts the rest falls into place. Ms. Apple tells her it’s ok, she feels good about herself and she appreciates the uniqueness of the dog at the pound.
