Romney, Mitt, Education: unsure
I support policies that will return authority back to the states and empower parents, not bureaucrats in Washington. As a member of the Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee, I’m working with colleagues to tackle the true cost of higher education and student loans. Additionally, I will continue to oppose efforts that give blanket student loan forgiveness which would be entirely unfair to those who worked their way through college or have already paid back their loans.
We also need to focus on ensuring our citizens have the skills or training necessary for the jobs of the future—especially in the advanced manufacturing, tech, and engineering sectors. I will work with my colleagues to make it easier for Americans to pursue alternative pathways, like technical schools, so they can learn specific skills and get good-paying jobs without being saddled with debt.
