I can show how we use negative and positive integers to solve real life problems by creating my own word problem.
• I can write a math story that shows gain and loss.
• I can create an equation that solves the problem by using positive and negative integers.
• I can solve the equation by using the integer tool.
• I can check my answer by using my calculator.
• I share my math story with a peer and support the process by answering questions and referring the person to the appropriate section of the integer tool.

Robert A Robert A (Jan 20 2022 10:24AM) : I teach ELA as well, and I wonder if I can convert some of my writing assessment to other persuasive assignments. more

I wonder if we can brainstorm different ways of assessing this. I remember using a strategy called RAFT to create different assessment options that are student created. I think that would fit this assignment well. Students could make a persuasive video, powerpoint, advertisement, etc.

Liz L Liz L (Jan 20 2022 3:53PM) : SEE more

I have used SEE: statement, evidence, explanation. I’ve color coded them so that students see the three parts in a graphic organizer and then in the text. Students tend to forget the explanation.

Vasiliki M Vasiliki M (Jan 20 2022 10:22AM) : I know this was discussed in the session and there was discussion over the vocabulary used. This was part of unit for my G&T classes. The students were introduced to all these terms and each aspect/concept was taught and worked on in steps. more

I see how the targets could be broken down to differentiate and scaffold for students who would need the extra support.
