El poema se titulo ‘’Balada de los dos abuelos’’ porque en este poema Nicolas Guillen canta los puntos de vista de sus abuelos, uno negro y uno blanco, oponiendole al principio y a travez del texto y al fin canta que andan y cantan en cojunto, por lo tanto es una balada.

El poema se titula Balada de los dos abuelos, porque en este poema es probamente un niño y que habla los dos personajes que son sus abuelos porque dicen “mi abuelo negro” ó “mi abuelo blanco”. Y por “Balada” en el poema el autor describe muchos lugares como por ejemplo “África de selvas húmedas”. De más Nicolás Guillén repite en el fin de sus poema el titulo para insistir en éste.

Cuandi Nicolas Guillen escribe su poema la isla suporta una inestabilidad politica importante. En facto depues de la dictadura de Machado en 1925, tuvo lugar un golpe de Estado ayudado por las fuerzas americanas, asi Batista toma el poder de la isla.
Por tanto la poblacion cubano tuvo que suportar varias dictaduras aprobadas por los EE.UU.

El tema de este poema son las diferencias culturales y fisicas y la maturdiad y lo necesario de superar estas y ser tolerante.
El autor illustra este moral con el ejemplo de sus dos abuelos blancos y negros que de todos los punto de vista se diferencian pero a pesar de esto acaban siendo conjunto, hablando y cantando conjunto por que finalmente son solo humanos.
