I agree that hating someone takes more energy than liking them. I think this book is good for students to read because majority of them can relate to it. Bullying still occurs both inside and outside of schools today. If children read this book, it can help them realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that there are people out in the world who do care about them. The author made the book even more relatable by making both the person who is getting bullied and the person who is doing the bullying both be victims in the story.

I completely agree with this and think that this first page sets the tone of the book. I remember reading this first page and thinking “wow how could someone be so terrible to make him feel that way.” Even though Victor is only a character in a book, I really felt his anger and pain towards Bull. I really like the fact that K.M. Walton chose to start out with Victor because we think he is the only victim, but then we really get to see Bull himself is a victim too. I didn’t like Bull because of the things he did to Victor, and then when I found out about his life, I felt both of these boys have been bullied by their families.
